The Woodpecker On My Chimney Cap

Nadyenka Yapto

April 23, 2026

He could be pecking on wood

The branches of a tree

But he keeps pecking right near me

He could be pestering in the hood

Pecking close to the buzzing bees

But he keeps pecking right near me

So I came outside, no near my good

Looking at the bird chirping gradingly

Why'd he peck his beak right near me?

Too near, I suppose, nearest a bird ever couldĀ

Be right next to the girl, pondering short sightedly

Why must he peck right near me?

He met she, she who took forever as gloom

She who I realized took place for me

He chose She

He, he who kept pecking right near me
